The Curacao International Film Festival Rotterdam is introducing a new prize, The Yellow Robin Award, for its second edition.

The award will recognise upcoming talent in the Caribbean and surrounding region.

The award’s partners will nominate a rising filmmaker and the winner will be selected by a jury including IFFR director Rutger Wolfson, critic and script advisor David Pinedo, and producer and PR expert Bernadette Heiligers.

The partners are Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos (Cuba); the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival; Jamaica Promotions
Corporation; Bahamas Film & Television Comission; and the Morelia International Film Festival in Mexico.

The winner will get a $10,000 prize from Fundashon Bon Intension, a trip to IFFR 2014, where their film will screen, and consideration for future projects by IFFR’s Hubert Bals Fund and CineMart.

The festival runs April 4-7.
