The FFA will present new Finnish films and works-in-progress for visiting sales agents, buyers and trade press.
After a successful launch in 2012, the Helsinki International Film Festival will launch the second edition of the Finnish Film Affair from Sept 24-26.
The festival runs Sept 19-29.
The FFA will present new Finnish films and works-in-progress for visiting sales agents, buyers and trade press. Some of last year’s projects are now screening in Cannes Marche, including 21 Ways To Ruin A Marriage [pictured] and Alcan Highway.
The line-up of projects for the 2013 edition will be announced in mid-August, and there will be a panel on Finnish-Russian co-production.
HIFF director Pekka Lanerva notes: “St. Petersburg and Moscow are just across the border, yet our film industries are only sporadically working together. By inviting Russian industry guests and discussing possibilities of future co-productions, we hope to strengthen the ties with our neighbours to the East.”
Recent Finnish-Russian co-productions include Ilmar Raag’s I’m Not Coming Back and Konstantin Lopushanksy’s The Role of a Lifetime.
The Finnish Film Affair is an initiative of the Helsinki International Film Festival - Love & Anarchy with partners such as Favex - the Finnish Film & Audiovisual Export, the Finnish Film Foundation, Media Desk Finland, the Central Organisation of Finnish Film Producers SEK, Finland Film Commission and with the support of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
