The Australian cinematographer will receive the award at the Polish festival later this year.

Oscar-winning Australian cinematographer John Seale will be the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the Plus Camerimage Film Festival, taking place in Bydgoszcz, Poland from Nov 26 - Dec 3.

Early in his career, Seale worked with Peter Weir on films such as Picnic At Hanging Rock, as a camera operator, and Dead Poets Society, as a cinematographer. He has also worked with the likes of Anthony Minghella on films such as The English Patient, for which Seale won the Oscar and BAFTA for Best Cinematography, and Michael Apted on Gorillas In The Mist. He also shot 2001’s Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone. His most recent film credits include The Tourist and Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time.

He was inducted into the Australian Cinematographers Society Hall of Fame in 1997 and most recently won the 2011 American Society of Cinematographers International Award in February.

Seale will be a guest at the festival, where a special restrospective of his films will be also be shown.
