As part of the Festival’s official programme, the Berlinale Special 2013 is presenting recent works by contemporary filmmakers, including Michael Winterbottom’s The Look of Love and Giuseppe Tornatore’s The Best Offer.

Ken Loach’s The Spirit of ‘45 will receive its world premiere as part of the Berlinale Special 2013 line-up.

Loach’s documentary is one of nine world premieres in the section, which also includes international premieres of Giuseppe Tornatore’s The Best Offer (Gala screening) and Yoji Yamada’s Tokyo Family (Gala screening).

Michael Winterbottom’s The Look of Love (Gala screening) and Jane Campion’s TV series Top of the Lake will also receive their European premieres.

As before, moderated discussions will follow the screenings of Berlinale Special films at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, with the directors (including Loach and Raoul Peck) in attendance.

Also screening as part of this year’s Berlinale Special will be the four most recent films in the Berlin - Ecke Bundesplatz documentary series by Detlef Gumm and Hans-Georg Ullrich.
