The veteran comedian and filmmaker [pictured] will collect the 41st AFI Life Achievement Award in Los Angeles on June 6.

“Mel Brooks is America’s long-reigning king of comedy – and as he taught us long ago, it’s good to be the king,” chair of AFI board of trustees Howard Stringer said.

“He’s a master of an art form that rarely gets the respect it deserves and it is AFI’s honour to shine a bright light on laughter by presenting Mel Brooks the 41st AFI Life Achievement Award.”

Brooks is one of only 14 people to win the Oscar, Emmy, Tony and Grammy.

His extensive credits include The Producers, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, To Be or Not To Be and History Of The World Part 1.
