Forget all your troubles, forget all your cares when you’re…in Dinard.

The last night of the Dinard Film Festival turned into something of a musical extravaganza.

Festival “godmother” Petula Clark kicked off proceedings with a rousing rendition of Downtown, as the jury members and Mark Herbert and Shane Meadows (who had just collected Paddy Considine’s Golden Hitchcock award for Tyrannosaur) sang alongside her on stage.

Then there were the bagpipes at the awards dinner in honour of the festival’s Scottish theme, followed by a thumping DJ set from Thomas Turgoose and Luke Treadaway who hit the decks at the after party. They now plan to “tap into the celebrity DJ market” and are available for weddings and private parties…

And not forgetting the two Irish dancers from Essex who took to the stage in sparkly outfits and wigs after the closing night gala screening of Sue Bourne’s feel good documentary about the Irish Dancing World Championships, Jig.

But my personal highlight has to be John Hurt singing My Way at the Grand Hotel..whilst I played the piano.

I’m already working on expanding my repetoire for next year.
