Urszula Antoniak, Naomi Kawase, Amat Escalante, Lav Diaz and Przemysław Wojcieszek comprise international jury; festival toopen with Haneke’s Amour.
San Sebastan winner Double Steps, drama Francine, starring Melissa Leo, and James Franco and Ian Olds’ oddball doc Francophrenia are among the competition entries at the T-Mobile New Horizons IFF in Wrocław (19-29 July).
The twelve international competition entries are all Polish premieres and will be judged by filmmakers Urszula Antoniak, Naomi Kawase, Amat Escalante, Lav Diaz and Przemysław Wojcieszek.
The Films On Art International Competition include Philippe Grandrieux’s It Maybe That Beauty Has Strengthened OurResolve – Masao Adachi, LCD Soundsystem doc Shut Up And Play The Hits by Will Lovelace, and Antony and the Johnsons doc Turning by Charles Atlas Antony.
Winners of the Grand Prix, Audience Award and Fipresci Award in the international competition and the winner of the Films On Art competition are guaranteed all-rights distribution in Poland by the New Horizons Association.
The festival will open on the 19 July with a screening of Michael Haneke’s Palme d’Or winner Amour.
