The Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) will focus on Argentine films in its New World View series at this year’s festival, which runs September 26 – October 4.

The festival, in its fifth edition, showcases a different film each year and aims to highlight countries whose current film-making stands against other countries and aims to develop cinema. The series has previously highlighted works from Israel and Russia.

Monika Wagenberg, curator of the series, said: “The seven films in this series give an overview of the current cinematic landscape in Argentina and are characterised by intimate and personal stories where poetic and lyrical moments shine through the thick, unvarnished banality of everyday life.”

The films in the 2009 New World View series are:

  • Café de los Maestros, Dir: M. Kohan
  • Encarnacíon, Dir: Anahí Berneri
