This year’s Full Frame Tribute will honour filmmaker Stanley Nelson who is best known for A Place of Our Own and Freedom Riders.

Ross McElwee will curate the Thematic Program, which focuses on family and will be announced in March. The festival is scheduled to run from Apr 12-15 in Durham, North Carolina.

The Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts And Sciences has contributed a $20,000 grant to support the 2012 Thematic Program.

“I am thrilled to be honoured with the 2012 Full Frame Tribute,” Nelson said. “Full Frame’s past honourees include not only some of the most important documentary filmmakers working today, but some of my personal mentors and role models. I am humbled to be in their illustrious company.”
