The European smash took dominated proceedings as the Franco-American Cultural Fund’s 16th annual festival came to a close in Los Angeles on Sunday (April 22).

Intouchables earned the audience award and the Critics Special Prize and will open in the US on May 25 through TWC.

Early One Morning (De Bon Matin) was awarded the LAFCA Critics Award by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association jury and there was a Critics Special Mention for Maïwenn’s Polisse, which Sundance Selects will release on May 18.

The First Feature Award went to The Adopted written and directed by Mélanie Laurent.

The Audience Special Prize went to the documentary Leadersheep while The Well Digger’s Daughter won the Audience Special Mention.

The week-long festival set an attendance record of 18,893 at the Directors Guild Of America, which hosted 29 features and 21 shorts.
