Jerzy Skolimowski will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for a Director with Unique Visual Sensibility at this year’s Plus Camerimage festival in Poland.

Writer/director/producer/actor Skolimowski will also attend the festival, which will show a retrospective of his work. Festival organisers are also preparing a book on his life and work.

Skolimowski’s famed works include Knife In The Water (he co-wrote the screenplay), Rece do gory, King, Queen, Knave, The Departure, Deep End, The Shout, Moonlighting, The Lightship, and Four Nights With Anna.

His latest film, Essential Killing, is a political thriller starring Vincent Gallo and Emmanuelle Seigner. It will have its world premiere in competition at Venice.

Plus Camerimage, now in its 18th year, runs Nov 27-Dec 4 and is moving this year to Bydgoszcz from its previous home of Lodz, Poland. The festival’s focus is on cinematography.

Previous directors winning the award include Roman Polanski, Bernardo Bertolucci, Jiri Menzel, Carlos Saura and David Lynch. Skolimowski is only the second Polish director to receive the award, preceded by Andrzej Zuławski in 2008.
