The French actress will receive the festival’s Excellence Award on 6th August.

French actress Chiara Mastroianni is to receive an Excellence Award at this year’s Locarno Film Festival, which runs from 4th-14th August.

Born in 1972 to actor parents Catherine Deneuve and Marcello Mastroianni, her credits include My Favorite Season, Love Songs and Making Plans for Lena.

Olivier Père, Artistic director of the Locarno Film Festival, said of Mastroianni: “Undoubtedly one of the most talented actresses of her generation, Chiara Mastroianni has employed her heritage of talent and beauty to brilliant effect in a challenging and prestigious series of films, made with some of the masters of contemporary cinema and its best directors.”

Previous recipients of the award include Oleg Menchikov, Susan Sarandon and John Malkovich. The presentation will take place on Friday 6 August, during the festival, which is now in its 63rd edition.
