French sales agent/theatrical distributor Capricci Films has taken on international sales for Winter Vacation by China’s Li Hongqi, which won Locarno’s Golden Leopard at the weekend. Plus other touring news from Locarno.

The Nantes-based company’s world sales lineup includes such films as Dominique Marchais’ documentary Temps de graces, which screened in Locarno’s now defunct Ici et Ailleurs sidebar in 2009; Gregg Smith’s experimental short Underexposed; and Bruno Creton’s documentary Maniquerville.

Meanwhile, festival director Olivier Père revealed that Paris will be joining Rome and Milan for the first time in Locarno’s history as a venue for a reprise of a selection of films from this year’s programme.

A dozen titles including the Piazza Grande films Deep In The Woods and The Ugly Duckling as well as the Romanian competition film Periferic will be shown between Sept 8-14 in the MK2 Quai de Seine and Quai de Loire cinemas.

Periferic is being handled internationally by MK2’s world sales arm.

Père recalled that MK2’s general director Nathanael Karmitz had “spontaneously” offered to enter into this partnership for a showcase of Locarno titles after his appointment as artistic director was made public two years ago.

Furthermore, another highlight of the 63rd edition, the Ernst Lubitsch retrospective – which reportedly attracted some 10,000 admissions last week   – is also going on tour.

The Cinematheque Suisse in Lausanne, now run by Père’s predecessor Frédéric Maire, will be presenting the retrospective from Aug 18 to Oct 31 with musical accompaniment for the most important of Lubitsch’s silent films or a professional actor reading out translations of the intertitles.

Another partner in the Lubitsch retrospective, the Cinémathèque francaise will be given over to the master director from Aug 25 to Oct 10.
