Mike Leigh joins Film London initiative ‘London in New York’, an event to promote London as a filming location, at the New York Film Festival.

Under the banner of ‘Creative London’ – part of the capital’s new umbrella brand – Film London will be at the New York Film Festival on Wednesday to promote the UK capital as a film production centre.

The centrepiece of ‘London in New York’ is Mike Leigh: Shooting London, an onstage event with the film-maker, moderated by Adrian Wootton Chief Executive of Film London.

‘London in New York’ industry events will include Daniel Battsek of National Geographic, Michael Barker of Sony Pictures and Phil Hunt of Bankside Films in a panel discussion of current avenues of film financing and the future of traditional theatrical distribution.

Adrian Wootton and Film London’s Head of Inward Investment and Business Development, Helena Mackenzie, will also be discussing the Film London Production Finance Market and presenting an Olympic briefing, outlining the infrastructure Film London is putting in place, with the Mayor of London and the delivery bodies for the Games, to ensure filming and production in the capital is not disrupted in the run up to, or during the 2012 Olympics Games.
