Hayao Miyazaki’s Ponyo On A Cliff By The Sea close this year’s Los Angeles Film Festival on June 28.

Buena Vista will release the film, which tells the tale of a young goldfish’s quest to become human, will in North America on August 14.

Louie Psihoyos’ Sundance hit The Cove and Rebecca Cammisa’s Which Way Home will be a part of the Free Screenings section.

As previously announced Michael Mann’s Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, will get its world premiere as the centrepiece screening ahead of its release through Universal.

LA Film Festival director, Rebecca Yeldham, said: “It was our ambition that the tentpoles of the festival reflect the spectrum of great cinema and cinematic experiences. We couldn’t be more proud to close the festival with the premiere of this exquisite re-voicing of Hayao Miyazaki’s Ponyo.”
