Mr Nice, MacGruber and comedy Barry Munday are among the line-up at South By Southwest next month.

World premieres of Mr Nice starring Rhys Ifans as drug smuggler Howard Marks, the feature version of SaturdayNight Live skit MacGruber and Chris D’Arienzo’s comedy Barry Munday are among the line-up at South By Southwest next month.

As previously announced Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass will open the festival, which runs from March 12-20 in Austin, Texas, and includes the documentaries Hubble 3D, Lemmy, and The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights.

The North American premiere of Shane Meadows’ Le Donk & Scor-zay-zeeand US premieres of Tim Blake Nelson’s Leaves Of Grass starring Edward Norton in a dual role, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Micmacs, are expected to be among the highlights.

The line-up includes Floria Sigismondi’s recent Sundance world premiere The Runaways, Michel Gondry’s documentary The Thorn In The Heart, and Steven Soderbergh’s documentary And Everything Is Going Fine, about the US writer and performer Spalding Gray.

Matt Harlock and Paul Thomas’ documentary American: The Bill Hicks Story, Jacob Hatley’s Ain’t In It For My Health: A Film About Levon Helm and Alexandre O Philippe’s The People Vs George Lucas all screen, as do a selection of films from Sundance such as the grand jury dramatic prize winner Winter’s Bone, The Taqwacores, The Freebie, and The Oath.
