Massachusetts-based Provincetown Film Society has been awarded grants by MassDevelopment and The National Endowment For The Arts (NEA) to support the filmmaking community in Provincetown and Outer Cape.
MassDevelopment, the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s partner in the administration of the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund, awarded $200,000 to renovate and purchase new equipment for the Whaler’s Wharf Cinema, which is the home for the Provincetown Film Society and the upcoming Provincetown Film Institute.
The NEA provided $10,000 in support of the 2012 Provincetown International Film Festival. The festival runs for five days in June at the Whaler Wharf Cinema.
“By receiving a grant from the Cultural Facilities Fund, the State of MA has shown confidence in our organisation and believes that we will continue to contribute to the economic and artistic vitality of the Outer Cape,” executive director of the Provincetown Film Society Gabrielle Hanna said. “And the grant from the NEA is such a great honour, proving that our annual film festival meets the needs of the filmmaking community.”
