A good week for the Carol actress just got better as it emerged she will receive the 27th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival’s (PSIFF) Spotlight Award.

Carol

Mara, who this week earned a lead actress Golden Globe nomination and a supporting actress nod from SAG for Carol, will attend the awards ceremony on January 2.

“Rooney Mara’s nuanced portrayal of Manhattan shopgirl Therese Belivet opposite Cate Blanchett’s Carol Aird, brings integrity and depth to this story of forbidden love set against the sexual mores of the early 1950s,” said film festival chairman Harold Matzner.

“For this brilliant performance, which adds yet another laurel to her diverse career, it is an honour to present Rooney Mara with the 2016 Spotlight Award.”

The festival will run from January 1-11, 2016.
