The 14th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) has appointed new executives to the Asian FilmMarket and programmers for the World Cinema and Asian Cinema sections.
Entertainment lawyer and BOM Film Productions CEO Cho Gwang-hee has joined the Asian Film Market as deputy director.
PIFF has also appointed the former editor-in-chief of local film magazine Cine21 Nam Dong-chul as Asian Film Market general manager. This also puts him in charge of the Pusan Promotion Plan (PPP) projects market.
PIFF co-festival director Lee Yong-kwan remains director of the Asian Film Market.
Executive programmer Kim Ji-seok will now be aided in Asian Cinema programming by Cho Young Jung, formerly of the World Cinema programming team.
Film critic Jeon Chan Il has joined PIFF as a World Cinema programmer focusing on the Flash Forward section.
PIFF expects the changes to help invigorate and strengthen programming from films around the world.
As for the other programmers, Lee Sangyoung for Korean cinema, Hong Hyosook for the Wide Angle section of Korean independent films, shorts and documentaries; Rhee Soue Won for French and Italian cinema and Pak Dosin for the Midnight Passion section will remain the same.
This year’s PIFF will run Oct 8 - 16 and the Asian Film Market Oct 11 - 14 in the harbour city of Busan, South Korea.
