EXCLUSIVE: The co-directors are frequent collaborators Jason Cortlund and Julia Halperin.

Warsaw, Poland-based New Europe Film Sales has taken on world sales for Rotterdam selection Now Forager.

The American indie drama will have its world premiere in Rotterdam’s Bright Future Section. It screened as a work in progress at November’s Gotham In Progress industry event at the American Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland.

The film is about a husband and wife trying to earn a living by foraging for wild mushrooms and selling them to restaurants.

The co-directors are frequent collaborators Jason Cortlund and Julia Halperin. Cortlund also wrote the script and is the lead actor; Halperin edited and produces with Kit Bland.

At Gotham In Progress, the film landed a Polish co-producer, Monternia, and also attracted the attention of New Europe.

New Europe Film Sales, headed by Jan Naszewski and Anja Sosic, has previously concentrated on short films and moves into features with this deal.

New Europe’s slate of shorts include Damian Nenow’s Oscar animated shorts contender Paths of Hate and award-winners How To Pick Berries by Elina Talvensaari and The Twin by Gustav Danielsson.
