Sissy Spacek will receive the Outstanding Achievement In Acting award on Jun 7 at SIFF. Spacek is best known for her roles in Carrie and most recently The Help.

SIFF will also pay tribute to William Friedkin on Jun 9 with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The festival will screen his latest film, the dark comedy Killer Joe which premiered in Toronto last year and opens in the US this summer through Mickey Liddell’s LD Distribution.

Matthew McConaughey plays a bizarre hitman who forms an intense attachment to a young woman. Emile Hirsch, Gina Gershon and Juno Temple also star.

“Sissy Spacek and William Friedkin have captivated audiences repeatedly throughout their careers with critically acclaimed works that boast multigenerational appeal,” SIFF artistic director Carl Spence said.

“SIFF is proud to celebrate their endured success in cinematic excellence and continuing brilliance, as we honour the highest calibre of cinematic talent at our annual Tribute Awards.”

The festival runs May 17-Jun 10.
