In advance of the Coloradan festival’s 40th anniversary edition top brass have added a fifth day of festivities and announced that the 650-seat Werner Herzog Theatre will be ready.

A press release issued by the festival said the upcoming edition “promises to be a grand reunion highlighting all the elements of the last 40 years.”

“The 40th celebration is our chance to thank and honour the founders, film-makers and audience who have helped us create such a beloved cultural institution,” said Telluride Film Festival executive director Julie Huntsinger.

“We are inspired every day by the cinematic genius that surrounds us and look forward to sharing the best of that on this very special occasion.”

Telluride 2013 is scheduled to run from Aug 29-Sept 2 and festival passes go on sale on Friday [Mar 1]. For more information visit the official website.
