Festival launches new prize for the best Latin American LGBT film.
The San Sebastian Film Festival is to launch an award for the best LGBT-related film to come out of Latin America.
The new award will be in addition to San Sebastian’s award for the best LGBT film to screen at the festival.
The jury for the new prize will be formed by members of Gehitu, the Basque organisation for the defense of sexual diversity, which has strong ties with the festival.
According to a San Sebastian source the new award will be an opportunity to “raise the voice of the ever increasing number of films in defence of LGTB people”.
The festival’s strong Latin American programme includes the Horizontes Latinos section and the Europe-Latin America co-production forum, which will celebrate its second edition this year.
