Prolific Japanese director to attend 2013 festival, which will screen his latest Lesson of the Evil [pictured] in competition.

Sitges Film Festival has announced that it will honour Takashi Miike at its 45th edition, which runs Oct 11-20.

The prolific Japanese director will attend the festival, returning 10 years after his first appearance, with the festival screening Miike’s latest Lesson of the Evil (Aku No Kyôten) as part of its Official In-Competition Fantàstic Selection.

This year’s edition will also celebrate two of its longest running sections: animation programme Anima’t and Seven Chances, in which seven auteur films are chosen by critics.

As it has since 2010, China Agency has designed the official poster, this year inspired by Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby and created by Miguel Ángel Duo, Rafa Antón and Biel Capllonch, which you can see on Sitges’ official website.

Gas Natural Fenosa return as Sitges’ main sponsor, along with sponsors Meliá Sitges and El Periódico de Catalunya, with the festival supported by Sitges Town Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Department of Culture and the Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales.
