QED International snaps up Toy’s House on eve of EFM

New worldwide president of marketing and acquisitions John Hegeman made the announcement on Friday [25]. CBS Films picked up US rights earlier in the week and is targetting a 2013 release.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts directed Toy’s House from a screenplay by Chris Galletta about three teenage boys who head into the wilderness to build a house and live off the land.

Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso, Moises Arias, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Alison Brie, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Erin Moriarty, Marc Evan Jackson, Thomas Middleditch and Tony Hale star.

Tyler Davidson of Low Spark Films, Peter Saraf of Big Beach and John Hodges produced, while Richard Rothfeld and Vogt-Roberts served as executive producers.

“As QED continues to expand its global footprint, we’re looking for outstanding film-makers whose movies have a strong international upside, and Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ exciting directorial debut fits the bill perfectly,” said Hegeman said.

“Our team at Sundance was completely captivated by Toy’s House, and our international sales group looks forward to implementing a global roll-out for this hilarious and affecting film.”  
 
QED vp of international sales John Friedberg brokered the deal with Cinetic Media.

QED’s Berlin sales slate includes David Ayer’s action thriller Ten starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, rom-com Fading Gigolo directed by John Turturro and starring Turturro and Woody Allen, rom-com Are We Officially Dating? starring Zac Efron and Imogen Poots, and supernatural thriller Haunt with Jacki Weaver.
