Shargawi, best known for Go With Peace Jamil, was on assignment in Cairo in January 2011 when the Egyptian revolution ignited. With fellow film-maker El Hakim, he captured images of the revolution the traditional media did not explore — in the alleyways and the streets. They were arrested by the secret police and had to smuggle the footage out of the country.

US-born, Israel-raised Jones traces her father’s transition from white Alabama boy to Andalusian flamenco guitarist. Her father wrote the score for the film, which premiered at last year’s Jerusalem Film Festival. Jones’ last feature-documentary Ashkenaz screened at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival in 2008.
