The Sundance Institute unveiled its programme of shorts set to run during the festival from Jan 19-29 2012.

All in all 64 entries made the cut from a record submission pool of 7,675, marking a 16% rise over the 2011 festival. There are sections for US and world dramatic, documentary and animated sections as well as New Frontiers.

Films include Walker’s The Tsunami And The Cherry Blossom, The Arm written and directed by Brie Larson, Sarah Ramos and Jessie Ennis and Nash Edgerton’s Bear from Australia.

“As technology allows greater access to short films as well as filmmaking tools, an increasing number of people are turning to short filmmaking as a form of expression and an opportunity to explore creative freedom,” director of programming Trevor Groth said.
