Fox Searchlight announced its second worldwide Sundance deal of the day and its third of the festival, after swooping on worldwide remake rights to The Bengali Detective, as HBO took remake rights to Knuckle.

Philip Cox directed The Bengali Detective and Giovanna Stopponi, Annie Sundberg and Himesh Kar produced the World Cinema Documentary Competition entry about an intrepid private eye in Calcutta’s criminal underbelly. It premiered on Saturday.

Searchlight’s acquisitions team negotiated the deal with Andrew Hurwitz of Schreck Rose Dapello Adams & Hurwitz on behalf of Native Voice Films. Searchlight creative executive Richard Gold will oversee development. Earlier on Monday Searchlight closed a worldwide deal for Martha Marcy May Marlene and on Sunday it acquired the world on Homework

HBO takes coveted remake rights from CAA to Rise Films’ World Cinema Documentary Competiton entry Knuckle, about feuding familes of Travellers. Ian Palmer directed and Teddy Leifer produced. ContentFilm International will sell foreign rights in Berlin.
