Works in Progress award goes to Annemarie Jacir’s When I Saw You.

The Thessaloniki International Film Festival Agora/Film Market’s seventh Crossroads co-production Forum and Works in Progress sections have announced their awards.

The Greek project Virus to be directed by Angelos Frantzis [pictured] and produced by Maria Tsigka of Argonauts Production received the main award consisting of full post production image and sound facilities offered by local post production powerhouse 2|35.

Virus was also the recipient of a free six-month development consultancy offered by Isabelle Fauvel’s Paris-based development and consultancy agency Initiative Films.

The producer of the winning project receives a free accreditation to the Cannes 2012 Producers Network.

The Italian project The Couch to be directed by Duccio Chiarini and produced by Fabrizio Mosca, Acaba Produzioni, received the French CNC (Centre National du Cinema et de l’Image Animee) development award worth Euros 7,000.

The Couch was also selected to be presented at the 2012 Sofia Meetings, the industry related section of the Sofia International Film Festival in Bulgaria.

The Israeli/French project Hole in the Wall to be directed by Hadar Morag and produced by Elie Meirovitz (EZ Films) was awarded a scholarship for the Script 2 Film Workshops of the Athens-based Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI)

The Crossroads jury was comprised of Eurimages executive director Roberto Olla, French producer Guillaume de Seille (Arizona Films) and his Greek colleague, producer Yorgos Tsourgiannis (Horsefly Production).

A separate jury judged the films in the Works in Progress section.

The Jordanian/Palestinian production When I Saw You directed by Annemarie Jacir and produced by Ossama Bawardi and Rami Yasin of Philistine Films received the Graal S.A. and Kodak Cinelabs Greece awards representing in-kind services and material for image post-production.

The film was presented in the 2008 Crossroads co-production Forum.

A special mention went to the Turkish production Beyond the Hill directed by Emin Alper and produced by Seyfi Teoman and Enis Kostepen (Bulut Films). The film was presented in the 2010 Crossroads Co-production Forum..

The jury was formed by Berlinale delegate and Palic European film festival Nikolaj Nikitin, the Berlin/Paris Coproduction Office head of sales Olimpia Pont Chafer and Greek distributor Zinos Panayotidis (Rosebud).

Projects and productions that participated — 17 for Crossroads and 10 for Works in Progress — came from such countries as Algeria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Jordan, Italy, Israel,Lebanon, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia Herzegovina,Turkey and Greece.

The Agora/Film Market is headed by French producer Marie-Pierre Macia, organised by Yianna Sarri and coordinated by Angeliki Vergou.
