Retrospective to inaugurate new Night Views section of the festival, which runs Nov 2-11.

Greek filmmaker Costas Zapas will be the focus of a retrospective at the 53rd edition of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.

All four of Zapas’ films - Uncut Family, The Last Porn Movie, Minor Freedoms and The Rebellion of Red Maria - will screen as part of the retrospective to inaugurate the new Night Views section of the festival, which centres on cinema that experiments with both form and content, breaks taboos, explores the darkest sides of human nature and defies mainstream conventions.

A Low Life Mythology, the latest film from Israeli filmmaker Lior Shamriz, will also be screened in the Night Views section alongside Shamriz’s other features and shorts, including his semi-autobiographical debut Japan Japan.

Zapas and Shamriz will both attend the festival, which runs Nov 2-11.
