Festival brass announced the second wave of programming on Tuesday (Jul 31), unveiling entries in the Vanguard, Midnight Madness, TIFF Docs, City To City, TIFF Cinematheque and TIFF Kids sections.

Among the anticipated highlights from Midnight Madness are world premieres for Martin McDonagh’s In Bruges follow-up Seven Psychopaths, the festival world premiere of Dredd and the world premiere of The ABCs Of Death, arguably the most ambitious portmanteau ever mounted featuring work from 26 directors such as the UK’s Ben Wheatley, French master Xavier Gens and leading new wave US genre filmmakers Ti West and Adam Wingard.

Vanguard includes world premieres for Zhang Yuan’s Beijing Flickers, Adrian Garcia Bogliano’s Here Comes The Devil and North American premieres for Luis Prieto’s Pusher remake and Ben Wheatley’s Cannes Directors’ Fortnight entry Sightseers.

The City To City programme turns the spotlight on Mumbai and there are films from Mohit Takalkar (The Bright Day), Anurag Kashyap (two-parter Gangs Of Wasseypur) and Hansal Mehta (Shahid), among others.

Alex Gibney investigates abuse within the Catholic Church in Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence In The House Of God, part of a documentary line-up that features Matthew Cooke’s How To Make Money Selling Drugs and the international premiere of Julien Temple’s London – The Modern Babylon.

TIFF Kids includes Finding Nemo 3D and Hotel Transylvania while among the TIFF Cinematheque selections are Alfred Hitchcock’s Dial M For Murder and Roman Polanski’s Tess.
