Carey Fitzgerald’s High Point Media Group and Pritish Nandy’s Mumbai-based production company Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) are teaming up on horror title The Accident.

High Point is talking to buyers in Toronto on the project, which stars Bollywood’s Shiney Ahuja and Soha Ali Khan as an upwardly mobile young couple who become plagued by panic attacks and strange apparitions after they trade their home in Silicon Valley for a secluded bungalow in India.

Abhijit Chaudhiri will direct following his National Award for best debut film for Patalghar. Arindam Mitra’s screenplay was guided with support from the Pusan Promotion Plan and the Ford Foundation Grant.

This is the second collaboration between High Pont and PNC on commercial Indian films for the international marketplace.

“High Point is extremely well placed to handle a film of this genre, having handled a range of successful horrors and thrillers around the world, from George A Romero’s Dawn of the Dead to Peter Van Hees’ award winning chiller, Left Bank,” Fitzgerald said.

The Accident tries to create a unique language and identity for the Indian horror genre which we believe will find resonance with audiences worldwide,” Pritish Nandy, who is aiming to build a horror label, added. “Indian cinema is rich in its nuances and horror is its new playground.”
