Producer and former Sony executive John Calley will receive the Academy’s Irving G Thalberg Memorial Award while Lauren Bacall, independent film-making stalwart Roger Corman and cinematographer Gordon Willis will each receive an Honorary Award.

All four awards will be presented at the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences’ inaugural Governors Awards event on November 14 in Hollywood.

The Thalberg Award is given to “a creative producer whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production.”

The Honorary Award is given to an individual for “extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy.”

“These four individuals have each, in their own unique way, made lasting impressions on the motion picture industry and audiences worldwide,” Academy president Tom Sherak said. ”I’m thrilled that the Academy’s board selected them to be honored at our new Governors Awards event, which will be full of memorable moments celebrating their accomplishments.”
