Un Certain Regard sidebar honoured Dogtooth by Greece’s Yorgos Lanthimos with its Fondation Groupama Gan For Cinema prize on May 23 in Cannes.

The The drama, handled by MK2, focuses on three siblings cut off from the outside world and forced to play games according to rules created by their overprotective parents.

Romania’s Corneliu Porumboiu took the Jury Prize for Police, Adjective. The film’s central premise revolves around a policeman and questions of conscience. Coach 14 has world sales on the film which also marks the young company’s first Cannes award.

A special Un Certain Regard prize went to Bahman Ghobadi’s docu-fiction portrait of the underground music scene in contemporary Iran, No One Knows About The Persian Cats. The film opened the section on May 14 and is handled by Wild Bunch. Mars Films has French distribution rights.

A second special prize was awarded to Mia Hansen Love’s Father Of My Children, a drama about a charismatic film producer forced to confront failure. The film is handled by Les Films de Losange for international sales.

The UCR jury was presided over by Paolo Sorrentino with Julie Gayet, Uma Da Cunha, Marit Kapla and Piers Handling rounding out the panel.
