The 46th edition of the festival (7-21 October) will feature over 150 films from 50 countries, including John Curran’s Stone and Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours.
Forest Whitaker, Guillermo Del Toro and Paula Wagner will be honoured at the 46th Chicago Film Festival which runs from October 7-21.
Actor Forest Whitaker, who won an Oscar for his performance in The Last King Of Scotland, will receive a Career Achievement Award on Oct 9, as part of the festival’s annual Black Perspectives Tribute.
Meanwhile, Mexican director/producer Guillermo Del Toro will be presented with the festival’s Visionary Award, which forms part of the Cinema of the America programme.
US producer Paula Wagner will also be the recipient of the Renaissance Award, presented during the festival’s ReelWomen section, which was launched in 2009.
The festival will open with John Curran’s Stone starring Ed Norton and Robert De Niro. The closing night film will be Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours starring James Franco.
150 films from 50 countries will be screening during the two week festival, which takes place in Chicago. The line up also includes 15 documentaries and 45 short films.
Artistic director Michael Kutza said the line up “will not disappoint. We have the best of the best from Cannes, Berlin and Venice and a ton of discoveries from around the world.”
