Arnold Schwarzenegger is to receive the Golden Icon Award at this year’s Zurich Film Festival (Sept 24 - Oct 4).

The festival’s most prestigious honour, awarded in appreciation of the lifetime achievements of an actor or actress, will be given to the action star on Sept 30 at Zurich’s Corso Cinema.

Schwarzenegger will also present his latest film, zombie drama Maggie, and discuss his body of work at an in conversation event.

“We are extraordinarily proud to welcome Arnold Schwarzenegger one of Hollywood’s most iconic legends, to Zurich and are delighted that he will share his films and stories with our public,” said ZFF artistic director Karl Spoerri.

“Arnold has had a transformative career that no one in Hollywood can match and established himself as a global brand, even beyond the box office. We are honored to present him with our Golden Icon award at this year’s Festival.”

The 68-year-old, Austrian-born star of the sci-fi Terminator series, comedy Twins and action film True Lies is a former Mr Universe and served two terms as the Governor of California from 2003 to 2011.

His return to the screen in recent years has included The Expendables francise, Maggie and Terminator Genisys, of which the latter has made more than $435m to date, mainly at the international box office.
