FilmNation has picked up international sales rights to Jonathan Glazer’s sci-fi project Under The Skin starring Scarlett Johansson.

The producers are lining up a late spring start on the story of an alien disguised as the perfect woman who scours highways to feed her voracious need for humans. When she develops a sense of humanity it puts her on a collision course with her own kind.

Nick Wechsler and James Wilson are producing and Glazer wrote the screenplay with Walter Campbell based on the novel by Michel Faber. Film4’s Tessa Ross is executive producer with Tanya Seghatchian stewarding at the UK Film Council with the assistance of Scottish Screen.

“We’re so very excited to be working on this arrestingly original movie,” FilmNation head Glen Basner said. “How could we pass up the chance to work with a visionary director like Jonathan, especially when combined with the intriguing notion of Scarlett Johansson as a ruthless alien seductress?”

Glazer directed Birth starring Nicole Kidman and directed Sexy Beast starring Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone.

The company is handling sales on The King’s Speech and is in post-production on The House At The End Of The Street starring Jennifer Lawrence, Max Thieriot and Elisabeth Shue. Production is about to begin on John McTeigue’s The Raven starring John Cusack, Alice Eve and Luke Evans.
