Mania Akbari's 20 Fingers (20 Angosht) from Iran was awarded the Grand Jury Prize for the Spirit ofFreedom International Film Competition at the close of the inaugural BahamasInternational Film Festival (BIFF).

The Modern Maverick Award went to France's Yann Samuell for LoveMe If You Dare andindustry veteran Roger Corman was presented with an Honorary Modern MaverickAward in recognition of his extensive body of work and his contributions to themotion picture industry.

Dorian Blues was awarded the Torchlight Screenwriting Award for best screenplayin the New Visions Section.

ThefilmBUZZ Audience Awards went to Rick Elgood and Don Lett's narrative feature OneLove and Tom Peosay's documentary Tibet:Cry of the Snow Lion.

The BIFF ranfrom Dec 9-12 and screened 75 films as well as educational panels, receptionsat historic Nassau sites and other events around the island. The closing nightscreening was John Duigan's Head In The Clouds.
