Justin Lin's Bruce Lee mockumentary Finishing The Game and Gina Kim's drama Never Forever bookend the 30th New York Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF), which runs from Jul 19-28.

Chen Shi-Zheng's drama Dark Matter starring Meryl Streep, Aidan Quinn, and Liu Ye is the centerpiece presentation. Twenty-five features will play in total.

Other highlights include a retrospective of Hong Kong New Wave director Patrick Tam, a programme of 30 shorts from the festival's history, and a strand curated by partner organisation Women Make Movies in its 35th anniversary year.

'We are proud to be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the New York Asian American International Film Festival,' acting executive director John Woo said.

'As the longest-running festival devoted to screening the works by and about the Asian and Asian American communities, we have been able to introduce audiences to many highly regarded directors, and our mission is to remain one of the premier festivals for spotlighting the work of rising film-makers.'
