Fireworks Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn Films have reteamed to jointly acquire US rights to Greenfingers, the British comedy starring Helen Mirren and Clive Owen.

The film, which world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last September, will be distributed through IDP, the distribution joint venture between Fireworks, Samuel Goldwyn and Stratosphere Entertainment. The story of prison inmates whose lives change on a gardening rehab programme was sold by Overseas FilmGroup.

The deal was negotiated on behalf of IDP by Samuel Goldwyn Films president Meyer Gottlieb, Goldwyn acquisitions director Tom Quinn and Fireworks Pictures vice president Bob Aaronson. Overseas FilmGroup was represented by co-chief executive officer Robert Little and vice president, worldwide sales, Brian O'Shea.

New York-based prodcution outfit Boneyard Entertainment was represented by president and CEO Daniel J Victor.

Other titles on which Fireworks and Goldwyn have teamed are Liv Ullmann's Faithless and Jonathan Teplitzky's Better Than Sex.
