New Zealand's box office sensation Perfect Strangers has been picked up by First Look Pictures for North America.

The chilling romance, which was directed by Gaylene Preston and stars Sam Neill and Rachael Blake, will be released early in 2004.

Sales were handled by the New Zealand Film Commission's Kathleen Drumm and negotiated with Peter Lawson of the recently restructured First Look. It is the story of a woman who finds herself the object of a man's obsession on an isolated island.

Drumm closed another Mifed deal on the film with Intersonic for the Czech Republic and Hungary. The film was previously sold to 20th Century Fox for Australia and New Zealand, California Film for Brazil, Believen for Russia, Piano Films for Turkey, Bridge Films for Benelux, LNK for Portugal, PaDora (ed sic) for Croatia and AV for Greece.
