Flanders' largest commercial TV company Vlaamse Media Maatschappij has signed a four-year output deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

Its two TV stations VTM and Kanaal 2 will have the right to broadcast new features (1999-2002) - such as Eyes Wide Shut, The Perfect Storm and Harry Potter And Philosopher's Stone. Kanaal 2 will continue to offer its target audience (20-30 year-olds) hit series such as West Wing, the Sopranos and ER. VTM targets a broader audience, including more local content. New animation and library titles are also part of the deal.

"Warner has an amazingly rich slate," comments spokesman Mark van Lombeek of the Vlaamse Media Maatschappij. "Their material perfectly fits the profiles of our stations: especially Kanaal 2, which shows a considerable amount of international productions."

"This is a typical renewal deal for our normal output," says Mickie Steinmann, sales director of Scandinavia and Benelux for Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. Eight months ago, Steinmann signed a similar deal for Holland's SBS6, which, like Kanaal 2, is also focused on a younger target group.
