Focus Features International sales chief Alison Thompson has reported multiple territory deals on a robust slate that includes Gus Van Sant's Milk starring Sean Penn as the assassinated gay rights campaigner Harvey Milk.

Thompson has been screening a promo from Milk to great success and closed deals with Constantin in Germany, Bim in Italy, SND in France, Paradise in CIS, Serendipity in Taiwan and Svensk in Scandinavia. The film also stars Emile Hirsch and Josh Brolin.

The Coen Brothers' upcoming A Serious Man has pre-sold to Tobis in Germany, Medusa in Italy, Central Partnership in CIS, Serendipity in Taiwan and Svensk in Scandinavia.

The untitled Sam Mendes comedy with John Krasinski, Maya Rudolph, Jeff Daniels, Toni Collette and Cheryl Hines has gone to Mars in France, Paradise for CIS, the highly acquisitive Serendipity for Taiwan and Svensk for Scandinavia.

Blood: The Last Vampire sold to Constantin in Germany and Asmik Ace in Japan. Taiwan's Serendipity also bought the romantic comedy Traveling with Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart.

'We've had a really great market,' Thompson said. 'The Focus brand is such that people keep on coming back and doing business with us. The quality of the films is high - and they get made.'
