Peter Shaw, the formerHollywood agent who married Angela Lansbury and produced her in thelong-running TV series Murder, She Wrote, has died of heart failure after a long illness. He was 84.

Shaw was born in Reading,England, in 1918 and served in the Army in the Second World War beforerelocating to America, where he met Lansbury while working at MGM. The pairwere married in 1949 and Shaw became an agent at William Morris, representingstars including Robert Mitchum, Katherine Hepburn and Marlon Brando.

Stints as head of productionat MGM and manager of William Morris' international operation followedbefore Shaw set up Corymore Studios at Universal Studios with his two sons in1987. They produced the hit series Murder She Wrote for 12 years as well as a host of TV movies. Shaw issurvived by Lansbury, sons David and Anthony, daughter Deirdre and threegrandchildren.
