Fortissimo Films has acquired worldwide rights outside Russia and France to Andrei Konchalovsky's Gloss, which will receive a gala screening at next month's Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF).

Produced by Konchalovsky's Production Center,Glosstakes a satirical look at the current wave of capitalism sweeping through Russia.

Since making the film, the acclaimed Russian filmmaker has directed Nutcracker: TheReal Story, but has recently re-cutGloss into a version that has yet to be released.

The deal for worldwide rights was brokered by Fortissimo co-chairman Michael J. Werner and Konchalovsky himself.

On making the announcement Fortissimo's Werner said: 'We are delighted to be working with such an innovative and respected director on what is such a relevant and absorbing tale of modern Russia.'
