Fortissimo Films has acquired all rights outside Scandinavia to Icelandic comedy Country Wedding, currently shooting in Snaefellsness, Iceland.

The brainchild of editor-turned-director Valdis Oskarsdottir, the film is a road movie about two busloads of Icelanders attending a wedding in a small church in the country. Completion is scheduled in time for the 2008 Cannes film festival.

Oskarsdottir is best known for her work editing such films as Festen, Mifune, Julien Donkey-Boy and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.

The film is produced by Gudrun Edda Thorhanesdottir, David Oskar Olafsson and Arni Filippusson for local Icelandic production companies Mystery Island, Duo Porudctions and Ave Productions.

The cast features members of the critically acclaimed theatre troupe Vesturport, including Gisli Orn Gardarsson, Nina Dogg Filippusdottir, Ingvar S Sigurdsson and Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson.

The deal was negotiated by Fortissimo's senior vice president - development and acquisitions Ashley Luke and managing director Nelleke Driessen and co-
producer Jim Stark on behalf of the producers.
