Third annual awards ceremony honouring marketing and distribution campaigns was held last night in London at a gala event.

20th Century Fox picked up five awards and Momentum Pictures collected three at the 2012 Screen Marketing & Distribution Awards, held last night at The Grange St Paul’s Hotel in London.

Fox scooped:

  • UK Marketing Team of the Year (sponsored by CBS Outdoor);
  • UK Distributor of the Year (sponsored by Deluxe Digital);
  • Premiere of the Year (sponsored by Elstree Studios) for Titanic 3D;
  • UK Online Campaign of the Year (sponsored by IGN) for Prometheus;
  • Campaign of the Year for a Film in 3D (sponsored by RealD) for Titanic 3D.

They were also highly commended in the UK Theatrical Campaign category for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Momentum won British Independent Film Campaign of the Year for The Woman in Black, Foreign Language Film of the Year (sponsored by Europa Distribution) for The Raid and Trailer of the Year (sponsored by Vue Entertainment, in association with Breatht4King Vue the Sony Digital Cinema 4K Experience) for Shame.

Momentum’s marketing executive Kate Willoughby was also awarded the inaugural Rising Star Award, sponsored by Creative Skillset, which recognises up-and-coming young industry executives in marketing and distribution.

For the second year running, Universal took home Documentary Release of the Year, this time for Marley, while Lionsgate UK won UK Theatrical Campaign for The Hunger Games and Revolver Entertainment scooped UK DVD Campaign of the Year for its Iron Sky Day.

Peccadillo Pictures received the Poster Design of the Year award for Weekend and HanWay Films took home the inaugural UK Sales Company Best International Campaign award for A Dangerous Method, which honours work on marketing campaigns, promo reels, trailers and film positioning.

Warner Bros was highly commended in both the UK Online Campaign of the Year for The Dark Knight Rises, and the UK Marketing Team of the Year categories, while Dogwoof was highly commended in the UK Distributor of the Year category.

Organic won UK PR Team of the Year, with Premier receiving a highly commended in the category. Premier received the UK PR Campaign of the Year award for The Artist.

Creative Agency of the Year awards went to AllCity Media and Wonderland, for print and audio-visual (sponsored by Shutterstock Footage) respectively.

James Higgins MBE received the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award, sponsored by the Film Distributors’ Association.

More than 450 industry professionals attended the gala event, hosted by Edith Bowman.

This year’s jury included Andrew Cripps, Christian Grass, Hugo Grumbar, Mia Bays, Gareth Unwin and Anna Higgs.

Wendy Mitchell, editor of Screen International, commented: “Screen is thrilled to celebrate the great work done in the UK on film distribution, marketing and publicity.

“We had more submissions than ever before and also introduced new categories to grow the scope of the awards. Our judges had a very tough job with so many great entries, but we’re happy to celebrate these winners who are clearly at the top of their game.”
