Jamie Foxx will star in The Kingdom for Universal Pictures based on anoriginal idea brought to the studio by Peter Berg and Michael Mann.

As previously announced,Berg will direct the thriller based on a screenplay by Matthew MichaelCarnahan. Mann will produce through his company Forward Pass, along with ScottStuber. Mary Parent along with Film 44's John Cameron and Sarah Aubrey willserve as executive producers.

The Kingdom is set in the wake of a deadly bombing attack on Americansworking in a Middle Eastern country, which forces the US Administration todeploy an elite team of counter-terrorism investigators to find the culprits.Foxx will play the leader of the team.

Production is set to start in May 2006. Foxx currently appears inUniversal's Gulf War tale Jarhead opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, and isfilming Miami Vice forUniversal and Michael Mann.

President of production Jon Gordon and senior vice president ofproduction Dylan Clark will oversee development for the studio.

Berg has two projects set at Universal through his overall dealwith the studio. He will direct and Film 44 will produce Bran Mak Morn and The Mission. He will also write and direct TheLosers, which Film 44will produce with Weed Road.

Foxx isrepresented by CAA and King Management. Mann is represented by CAA. Berg andCarnahan are represented by Endeavor.
