Stephen Frears has completed principal photography on his new feature The Queen. Shooting wrapped in Paris on November 10 after a nine-week shoot on location in Scotland and around London.

The film looks at the way the British royal family and Prime Minister Tony Blair responded to the death of Princess Diana.

The Queen stars Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II, and the cast also includes Michael Sheen, James Cromwell, Helen McCrory, Alex Jennings and Sylvia Syms. Peter Morgan (The Deal, Henry VIII) wrote the script.

The Granada Films and Pathe Pictures production is produced by Andy Harries, Christine Langan and Tracey Seaward. Executive producers are Francois Ivernel, Cameron McCracken and Scott Rudin.

Pathe Pictures International is handling international sales. Miramax will distribute in North America and Pathe will distribute in the UK, Ireland and France. The UK release is planned for August 2006.
