French production falls in 2006 after 2005 boom

France's CNC has released initial production figures for the year 2006. In total, 203 films received the stamp of approval from the CNC - which is equal to 2004, though down from last year's exceptional crop of 240 films. Production investment stood at $1.49bn (Euros 1.15bn) compared to $1.66bn (Euros 1.28bn) in 2005, though up on 20004. 2005 saw an increase in international co-productions with 114 total, or almost one out of every two approved films.
